Govee Elite vs. Pro: What Is Actually Different and Which Track Fits Your Lights
If you are trying to figure out whether you have Govee Elite or Govee Pro lights, or whether your Govee 2 and your Elite are the same thing, you are not alone. Govee's product naming has created genuine confusion, and the stakes are real: order the wrong mounting track and it will not fit your lights.
This guide clears everything up. By the end you will know exactly what you have, what is different about the Elite versus the Pro, and which GlowTrax kit was built for your specific lights.
The Short Version
Govee Elite and Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 are the same product under two different names. The Elite is sold exclusively at Costco and Sam's Club. The Govee 2 is sold everywhere else. Same hardware, same model line (H705), same bulb spacing, same connector system.
Govee Pro is a completely different and newer product. It is the H706 model line. The bulbs are larger, the spacing is different, and the connector system is not compatible with any H705 accessory.
GlowTrax Classic fits the H705 line: Original, Govee 2, and Elite.
GlowTrax Pro fits the H706 line: Govee Pro in all versions.
If that is all you needed, you are set. If you want to understand why these are different and what the actual differences mean for your installation, keep reading.
The Govee H705 Family: Original, Govee 2, and Elite
Govee has released three versions of their standard permanent outdoor light line over the past few years. All three live in the H705 model group and are physically compatible with each other and with any H705-fit mounting track.
The Govee Original (H705A, H705B, H705C) was the first generation. It established the form factor: a small round puck-style LED bulb, RGBIC technology for multi-color display, and a connector system that plugs together to create runs up to 150 feet. Available in 50-foot, 100-foot, and 150-foot kits.
The Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2 (H705D, H705E, H705F) is the updated version of the Original. Govee improved the brightness, added updated scene modes, and refined the app experience. Same bulb size and spacing as the Original. Fully compatible with Original accessories and tracks. Available in 50-foot, 100-foot, and 150-foot kits.
The Govee Elite is the Govee 2 sold through Costco and Sam's Club. Same H705 hardware. The naming is different because Costco and Sam's often require exclusive product names or packaging for their retail channels. If you bought your lights at Costco or Sam's Club, you have Elite lights. If you bought the same lights at Amazon, Best Buy, or Govee's website, you have Govee 2 lights. The track that fits one fits the other identically.
Note: Some older Elite model numbers may appear with H805 prefixes in Costco packaging. These are still H705-compatible from a mounting and spacing standpoint. If you are uncertain, measure your bulb spacing. H705-family lights have approximately 16 inches of spacing between bulbs.
The Govee H706 Family: Govee Pro
The Govee Pro (H706A, H706B, H706C) is a different product in a meaningful way. Govee redesigned the light cap for a larger, more premium appearance, changed the bulb spacing to approximately 20 inches, updated the connector system, and built in Matter compatibility for integration with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings simultaneously.
The Govee Pro is brighter, has a larger visible bulb footprint, and includes the most current technology Govee offers in the permanent outdoor light category. It is also only available in larger kit sizes: 100-foot, 150-foot, and 200-foot.
The Pro's wider bulb spacing is one reason a Pro-specific track was needed. The hole placement in a track designed for 16-inch H705 spacing will not line up correctly for 20-inch H706 spacing. The two systems are not cross-compatible in accessories or mounting hardware.
What the Elite vs. Pro Difference Actually Means for Installation
The practical impact of this distinction shows up at two moments: when you buy your mounting track and when you plan your installation.
If you buy a track designed for the Pro and try to use it with Elite lights, the holes will not align with your bulbs. You will end up either forcing the lights into incorrect positions or leaving holes uncovered. The reverse is also true: a Classic track on Pro lights creates the same mismatch problem.
This matters more than it might seem. Aluminum mounting tracks are designed to hold each bulb at a precise spacing so the light aims straight down, the wire is fully hidden, and the overall roofline appearance is clean and uniform. Mismatched hardware defeats the whole purpose of the track system.
Which GlowTrax Kit Fits Your Lights
GlowTrax makes two aluminum mounting track systems, each purpose-built for one of the two Govee light families.
GlowTrax Classic is built for the H705 line. It fits Govee Original, Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights 2, and Govee Elite lights. The Classic kit covers a minimum of 50 feet and includes track sections, 2 hinges, 2 ninety-degree angle pieces, and 4 end caps. Every hole in the track is positioned for 16-inch H705 bulb spacing. GlowTrax Classic retails for $139.99.
GlowTrax Pro is built for the H706 line. It fits all versions of Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro (H706A, H706B, H706C). Same kit format as the Classic, same powder-coated aluminum construction, repositioned holes for 20-inch H706 bulb spacing. GlowTrax Pro retails for $159.99.
Both tracks ship in white and are paintable. If you want them to match a different soffit or trim color, standard exterior paint applied according to the manufacturer's recommendations bonds cleanly to the powder-coated surface.
If You Still Are Not Sure Which Lights You Have
Check the model number on your original packaging or in the Govee app under device settings. The model number will start with H705 (Classic or Elite) or H706 (Pro).
If you no longer have the packaging and cannot find the model number in the app, measure the center-to-center distance between two adjacent bulbs on your installed lights. Approximately 16 inches means you have H705 lights and need GlowTrax Classic. Approximately 20 inches means you have H706 Pro lights and need GlowTrax Pro.
Still not sure? Email [email protected] with a photo of your lights or your Govee app device screen. We will confirm your model and make sure you order the right kit before anything ships.
The Bottom Line
Govee Elite and Govee Pro are not the same product. The Elite is the Govee 2 sold at warehouse clubs. The Pro is Govee's premium current-generation system with a larger bulb, wider spacing, and Matter compatibility. The confusion between them is understandable given the naming, but the difference matters when it comes to mounting hardware.
GlowTrax Classic for H705 (Original, Govee 2, Elite). GlowTrax Pro for H706 (Govee Pro). Both kits solve the same problem: hiding wires, aligning bulbs, and giving your Govee installation the clean, professional finish it deserves.
